Backyard space stops being the question out here

Most of this site is taken up with whether a 15x15 unit will fit. In Moreno Beach it usually will, with room to spare. Zoning across the block bounded by Moreno Beach Drive, Redlands Boulevard, Alessandro Boulevard and Locust Avenue runs 14.5 percent RA2 Residential Agriculture at two dwellings per acre, 10.6 percent R1 at one per acre, 3.6 percent R2, 6.5 percent R3 and 7.6 percent Hillside Residential, with a further 27 percent of that block given over to the World Logistics Center business park. That is the largest-lot residential profile in Moreno Valley. Horse property, long private driveways, half-acre to multi-acre pads. A standard unit plus a water slide plus a 20x20 canopy sits on most of these lots without anyone having to move a car, which is not something we can say about Moreno Valley Ranch or the tract streets further west. The boring part still stands. Measure about 25 by 25 feet of flat ground, which is the 15 by 15 the unit takes plus 3 to 5 feet of clearance on every side, and check for a standard outlet within 100 feet. On acreage the outlet is the constraint far more often than the ground is, so pace it out before you call. Grass gets stakes, concrete and asphalt get sandbags. One bookable shelter out here, and it seats thirty

This is the sentence worth the page. The whole Moreno Beach corridor has a single reservable picnic shelter, and it is Shelter #56 at the Cottonwood Equestrian Staging Area, 28590 Cottonwood Avenue, capped at thirty people. That is the smallest reservable shelter in Moreno Valley, and it is an equestrian staging area rather than a conventional picnic site, so it suits a small family gathering and nothing larger. The two parks people usually mean when they say Moreno Beach carry no shelter at all: the Moreno Valley Equestrian Park and Nature Center at 11150 Redlands Boulevard, 44 to 45 acres of horse arenas and multi-purpose trails, and Hound Town Dog Park on the same site. So if your guest list runs past thirty and you want a park rather than a garden, you are leaving the corridor. The nearest bigger options are Shelters #54 and #55 at Rock Ridge Park on Waterford Way, both medium at up to 120 each, which sit west of the drive on the Rancho Belago side, and Shelter #27 at Morrison Park on Dracaea Avenue, also up to 120, which is over in Bear Valley. Reserve the shelter with the City first, then call us with its number. A jumper in a City park needs a permit of its own as well, and the park permit rules set out what the City actually asks for.

Wind is the one thing out here that can stop a booking

Moreno Beach is the most wind-exposed ground in the city. It sits open toward the San Jacinto Wildlife Area and the Badlands, with Gilman Springs Road funnelling air down into the corridor, and the same big lots that make the yard easy also mean there is often nothing upwind to break a gust. No fence line close by, no roof next door twenty feet away. An inflatable is a sail with children inside it, and that is not a risk we take on. So here it is plainly. If the forecast for your date turns genuinely unsafe we will move it or call it off, and that decision is ours to make rather than yours to talk us round on. Losing the booking is the cheaper outcome. What helps most is flexibility, so tell us when you book whether the date can shift by a day or whether it is pinned to the birthday itself, because out here that answer changes how we plan the week. Asking for the first delivery slot of the morning helps too. We would rather be anchored and gone early and leave you the calmer end of the day than be carrying panels across a pad at two in the afternoon.

Sixteen minutes out, which is why the early slot matters

Moreno Beach is roughly 16 minutes from the shop at 15167 Pepper Court with a trailer behind us, east on Alessandro Boulevard or out along the 60 and down Moreno Beach Drive. Only Hidden Springs is further, and that has one practical consequence worth knowing before you plan anything. Short-notice bookings are harder here than almost anywhere else we serve. A Thursday call for a Saturday party on Quincy Street or Cottonwood Avenue is a different proposition from the same call closer in, because the truck cannot be in two places and the drive eats the margin between jobs. Ask for the early-morning slot and give us as many days of notice as you can. If you are describing where you are, we know Moreno Beach Plaza and Moreno Beach Plaza II at the south-west corner of the 60 and Moreno Beach Drive, Moreno Marketplace at the north-west corner of Moreno Beach Drive and Cactus Avenue, the Auto Mall, and Moreno Elementary School at 26700 Cottonwood Avenue. Long private driveways are the other local detail. Tell us where the trailer can sit and how far the carry is from there, because on a multi-acre pad that walk can be a hundred yards and we would rather bring a third pair of hands than find out on the day.

Where we draw the line, and why the name confuses people

The town of Moreno was established in 1891 at the junction of Alessandro Boulevard and Redlands Boulevard, named for Frank E. Brown, whose surname means brown in Spanish, and it was one of three towns absorbed when Moreno Valley incorporated in 1984. Locals today use Moreno Beach for the SR-60 and Moreno Beach Drive corridor rather than for that old townsite, and the corridor is what this page covers. There is an honest complication in it. The City's Rancho Belago district, adopted by council resolution in February 2007, runs east past here and on paper contains all of this ground, but for delivery purposes we treat Moreno Beach Drive as the line between the two pages. West of the drive is Rancho Belago, which is where most of the shelters are. East of it is this page, which is where the acreage is. If your street sits nearer Iris Avenue than Ironwood Avenue then Rancho Belago may be the closer read, and either way it changes nothing about what you pay. The day rate is the same on both sides of the drive.

Shirts, cake toppers and the food question

Sixteen minutes each way means we would much rather put the shirts on the same truck as the unit than make the run out here twice, and about two weeks of lead time makes that comfortable. We do not cook it, we do not sell it and we do not bring it. Everything else on the day is ours to carry in, set up, anchor and take away again at the end, and you lift none of it. The price does not move with the guest list either. There is no per-child charge and no overage fee, so a party that grows from fifteen to forty costs what it was quoted.
